The year 2021 marks the launch of the ȘI Festival, originally named the “Șerban Ionescu” Theatre and Film Festival. The first edition took place 90% online, between November 18 and 21, under the motto “expose. express. explore.”
The second edition takes place between July 17 and 23, with 2022 marking the year the festival finds a home in the village of 2 Mai. It also expands both its duration (from 4 to 7 days) and its sections (including concerts). The motto under which more than 40 cultural events are held is “before. now. after.”
The third edition constitutes a key moment of maturation in the festival’s evolution. The number of days grows from 7 to 8, with the addition of a new section dedicated to dialogue (forum). Over 50 cultural events unfold between July 22 and 29, 2023, in 2 Mai, under the motto “the same. almost the same. different.” The edition also features a launch event at Apollo111 in Bucharest.
In 2024, the festival undergoes a renaming process, officially becoming ȘI Festival. The fourth edition, staged between July 20 and 27 under the slogan “you too. me too. together too.”, expands significantly with the opening of a second performance space (in the gym of School No. 1) and the hosting of over 70 cultural events in 2 Mai.
